Here at the shelter, we give our dogs a frozen peanut butter Kong every night before we leave. This provides them with a tasty treat and mental stimulation, and it brings us joy to see their eyes light up at the end of the day.
Make Your Own at Home!
Materials:
- Rubber Kong toy or a similar rubber toy with a hollow center
- Dog-friendly treats or kibble
- Low-sodium chicken broth or water, peanut butter (no xylitol), or wet dog food
Instructions:
- Stuff the hollow center of the rubber toy with dog-friendly treats or kibble.
- Pour low-sodium chicken broth or water, peanut butter (no xylitol), or wet dog food into the toy.
- Freeze the toy with its contents.
- Once frozen, give the toy to your dog.
Your pup will have to work to get the treats as it melts, providing mental stimulation and a tasty reward.
