Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register my pet for the first time? +
Visit Paws Animal Services with your pet's current rabies vaccination certificate from a licensed veterinarian. If your pet is spayed or neutered, bring that documentation too - you'll save money on registration fees! Our friendly staff will help you through the quick process, and you'll receive tags that help us reunite you with your pet if they ever get lost.
What should I do if I find a lost pet? +
First, check for ID tags and contact the owner directly if possible. Most lost pets are within a mile of their home and may find their way back on their own. If the pet appears to be in danger or distress, call us during business hours at 706-653-4512. You can also post on local lost pet Facebook groups. Many pets have microchips that any veterinary clinic can scan for free.
What are the emergency contact numbers? +
During business hours, call Paws Animal Services at 706-653-4512. For after-hours animal emergencies, contact 911. For wildlife concerns, Georgia DNR can be reached at 770-918-6408.
What are nuisance violations and how are they handled? +
We understand that sometimes pets can create challenges in neighborhoods. Common concerns include excessive barking or pets creating unsanitary conditions. We believe in working together to find solutions. If you're experiencing issues, try talking with your neighbor first - most situations can be resolved with friendly communication. If needed, our team can help mediate and provide resources to address the concern while keeping pets and families together.
