Dog's Day Out Program

Take a shelter dog on an adventure! The Dog's Day Out program lets you spend a few hours with a shelter pet outside of Paws Humane Society. Whether it's grabbing a puppuccino, going on a hike, or enjoying a leisurely stroll at the park, you'll give a dog a break from shelter life while helping them become more adoptable.

Requirements: Must be 18+ with valid ID • Available during business hours • Dogs must return at least 1 hour before closing

We provide everything you need including a goodie bag with supplies. Simply fill out our quick application, sign a waiver, and choose your adventure buddy for the day!

Frequently Asked Questions

Anyone can volunteer! To volunteer independently, you must be 18 years or older. Teens aged 16-17 can participate in our Junior Volunteer program with parental consent. If your child is under the age of 16, please contact our community engagement coordinator for ways they can get involved.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week for at least 3 months. This helps ensure consistency for our animals and allows you to develop meaningful connections.

Volunteers can help with dog walking, cat socialization, administrative tasks, event support, fundraising, fostering, and community outreach. We match your skills and interests with our needs.

No previous experience is required! We provide comprehensive training for all volunteer positions. A love for animals and commitment to their welfare is what matters most.
